Bill Karpovich


Bill is the lead investor in and CEO of Synaptic Advisory Partners. Bill brings 30 years of experience building new enterprise technology offerings and businesses. Bill is experienced with all stages of growth from startup, expansion, IPO, global scale & digital transformation.

Bill is a pioneer in cloud computing. He led IBM’s efforts in the cloud wars as GM of IBM Watson & Cloud Platform. Bill was also an executive with two ground-breaking cloud startups through IPO: USi (the first SaaS provider) and Digex (the first IaaS provider).

Bill was CEO and CoFounder of DevOps software innovator Zenoss, Inc., which raised over $45M in venture capital and reached #42 on the Inc. 500 list. In 2011, Bill was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the state of Maryland. Bill also served as EVP of Sonatype, where he navigated the sale of the DevSecOps pioneer to Vista Equity.

Bill began his career as a software architect with Accenture and holds a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
